At its peak in 2003, Kazaa was the most-downloaded piece of software on Earth — bundled with infamous adware, beloved and cursed in equal measure, and the soundtrack to millions of suburban teenage bedrooms.

LEGACY

Proved decentralized networks could survive what centralized ones couldn't — a blueprint for everything from BitTorrent to Bitcoin.
